Precious metal clay workshop
PRECIOUS METAL CLAY
Precious metal clay is made up of three ingredients: the largest portion is pure metal that has been made into very fine particles, as fine as talc. The second much smaller portion is an organic binder, and the third ingredient is 10% water.
Precious metal clay can be modelled and textured very much like ceramic clay, but on a smaller scale, in order to make jewellery.
When finished, the piece is dried and then fired in a kiln to fuse the metal particles together. After firing, the resulting piece is pure metal.
PMC comes in a variety of metals including pure platinum, gold and silver. and more recently copper and bronze.
During this workshop we will be using Silver Art clay and you will go home with a unique piece of pure silver jewellery.
