Aluminium dyeing workshop
Aluminium is a lightweight and durable metal, making it ideal for jewellery making. By using pre-anodised aluminium it is possible to colour the surface using immersion dyes, direct application with inks, alcohol- based felt tip pens and many other printmaking techniques. The porous anodic coating absorbs the dyes or inks and is then sealed to make the colour permanent.
This is a hands-on workshop, and during the morning we cover various methods of applying surface colour and design to the sheet metal. After lunch you will have the option of continuing with the colouring process, or spending time in the workshop creating jewellery from your finished designs.
